Sometimes it's good to get to know a sociopath, so you can learn to easily recognize them.

Quote:
“In the Middle East, and in many parts of the world, there is a simple truth: There is no place for the weak. The weak crumble, are slaughtered and are erased from history while the strong, for good or for ill, survive,” Netanyahu said.

“The strong are respected, and alliances are made with the strong, and in the end peace is made with the strong,” he added.

“But our enemies know very well what Israel is capable of doing. They are familiar with our policy. Whoever tries to hurt us—we hurt them,” he said.

“I am not spouting slogans. I am describing a persistent, clear and determined policy…backed by appropriate deployment, equipment, preparedness and—in the hour of need—appropriate orders,” the prime minister continued. -- source

This is one method sociopaths use to intimidate their opponents. It is the psychological bullying of a bully.

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Quote:
Today’s leaders are extremely likely to be Machiavellian from a Game Theory standpoint as well. To simplify this concept, consider a world with only two leaders. If one leader decided to follow Machiavelli’s teachings and one didn’t, the one who followed the teachings would have the upper hand. So, both would have to follow his teachings to cancel out the advantage. -- source

Machiavellian is a code word for sociopathic. Most of today's leaders are indeed sociopaths (and thus Machiavellian). They become our leaders because of their faulty psychology and the way it interacts with our normal psychology. In other words, it takes two to tango. Con-artists succeed best with victims who are trusting, honest, and empathetic.

Quote:
This may explain why almost no politicians are ethical. So, in short, most politicians are unethical because they must be to gain power. The desire for the accumulation of power promotes a different morality. It is not the morality that most people live by. To politicians, gaining power is good (moral) and losing power is bad (immoral), even if one must hurt people to gain power. -- source

No, the desire for the accumulation of power does not promote a different morality. The desire for power and the lack of morality are both known symptoms of sociopathy. They are both the result of having little to no empathy.

It is really a disadvantage to have no understanding of sociopaths and their unusual psychology. If you don't understand the predator, you become easy prey. If you don't understand the sociopath, you cannot even see the reality of the world. For example, if you don't understand sociopaths, you will tend to agree with the old saying that power corrupts, when the real story is that the corrupt (sociopaths) are attracted to power. The difference in understanding the validity (or lack thereof) of those two perspectives is really critical.

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
In the 2016 elections, I didn't vote for Hillary because she is a criminal sociopath.

In the 2016 elections, I didn't vote for Trump because he is a criminal sociopath.

I no longer vote for sociopaths, now that I can recognize them better.

Sociopaths are full of themselves, arrogant, and self-aggrandizing (though in a charming way). They use deception to manipulate others in the pursuit of greater power and control (also in a charming way). It doesn't matter what their names are, they all do the same thing. Barack Obama did it, George W. Bush did it, Bill Clinton did it, George H. W. Bush did it, Richard Nixon did it, and on and on.

But let's focus on Donald Trump and witness his sociopathic nature. You can see it clearly in this phone call conversation with Bob Woodward. Trump takes every opportunity to redirect attention to himself and how great he is, what a wonderful leader he is, how things have never been better for America... in other words, he lies. His lies are based on government figures that are themselves lies, so in his own mind, Trump recognizes it's not really him that is lying, but others responsible for the bogus data. That's the plausible deniability sociopaths always rely on, just in case they fail to get away with the lies. The plausible deniability "escape route" is a way to avoid taking responsibility for their actions and lies. Avoiding personal responsibility is also another major trait of sociopaths. And note how he accomplishes all this in a rather charming way.

Can you spot the tell-tale signs of a sociopath in the following conversation?

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Quote:
As the Times reveals, (Sally) Field writes extensively about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepfather, which continued until she turned 14. (She first spoke publicly about it in 2012.) Her mother married Jock Mahoney, a stuntman and actor who went by Jocko, in 1952 when Field was about five. As she writes in her memoir, “It would have been so much easier if I’d only felt one thing, if Jocko had been nothing but cruel and frightening. But he wasn’t. He could be magical, the Pied Piper with our family as his entranced followers.” (Mahoney died in 1989, and divorced her mother almost two decades prior.) -- source

Can you see the sociopathy in this story? I would bet money that Jock Mahoney was a sociopath. The characteristics are there:

  • Sexually abused his step-daughter for almost a decade
  • Worked as an actor, so was accomplished at "acting", i.e. deceiving others
  • Was also a stuntman, i.e. attracted to risky behaviors
  • Was cruel and frightening (abusive) at times, showing a lack of compassion and empathy for others
  • Was also "magical" at times, entrancing others like a Pied Piper, i.e. charming

The psychological damage this Jock Mahoney did to Sally Field expanded outward and probably poisoned every relationship she had, including her connection with Burt Reynolds. And it's often the case that the people she connected to brought their own poison to the relationships. Abuse victims like Sally Field tend to be attracted to men like her stepfather, who are explosive, charming, domineering, manipulative, entrancing, cruel and exciting, frightening and consoling.

How ironic that the "Flying Nun" was sexually abused as a child.

Once you understand sociopaths, it's like having the key to understand how the world works. Because the world is run by sociopaths.

Look what I just found:

Quote:
Now, Field sees connections between her and Reynold’s romance and the relationship with her stepfather.-- source

Ha! Just as I predicted.

Sociopaths ruin humanity.

Sociopaths are always narcissists.

Can you spot the tell-tale signs of a sociopath in the following conversation?

And here is Trump's official response:

Quote:
“The Woodward book is a Joke,” Trump tweeted on Monday morning. “Just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources. Many have already come forward to say the quotes by them, like the book, are fiction. Dems can’t stand losing. I’ll write the real book!” -- source

Trump is mostly accusing his opponents of his own malfeasance. Trump's presidency is a joke. Trump's excuses are fiction. Trump can't stand losing. Trump can't write a truthful book.

Trump can't help but expose himself as a sociopath with his usual behavior. Just like we saw with Andywight, dsimon3387, and GypsyWoman in her various sockpuppet disguises, sociopaths just can't help expose themselves as sociopaths, because their behavior follows from their psychology. Whether it is in local forums or on the national stage, it happens like clockwork. The real problem is that most people don't recognize it, because they are totally ignorant about sociopaths.

Boy, oh boy, does that need to change!

Image
Politicians in DC (like Trump) are experts at this, whether they write it or speak it.
They are two-faced liars, just like our Liar-In-Chief himself!

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Quote:
While Bill Clinton was "always pleasant as he avoided answering" questions with (Ken) Starr, "in the space of three hours, she [Hillary] claimed, by our count, over a hundred times that she ‘did not recall' or ‘did not remember,'" the attorney writes. "This suggested outright mendacity."

"To be sure, human memory is notoriously fallible, but her strained performance struck us as preposterous."

Explaining why perjury charges were never pursued against Hillary Clinton, Starr writes: "[P]roving that someone knowingly lied when they said ‘I don't recall' or ‘I don't remember' is extremely difficult, especially if that person is the first lady. What was clear was that Mrs. Clinton couldn't be bothered to make it appear as if she were telling the truth." -- source

Hillary was a lawyer. You don't think she knows how to avoid perjury charges? She's also a sociopath. You don't think repeating the same protective lie (‘I don't recall') comes naturally to her? How can Ken Starr be so obtuse?

Unless he is completely ignorant about sociopaths...

Image
Might he be a normal person in a sociopath's profession, and therefore easily played, and thus unable to nail Clinton?

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Quote:
A non-sociopath would never try to perpetrate such a hoax. Try to imagine yourself doing what Jackie did. First, you tell your friends that you were raped by nine guys. Then, you go to the dean of the university and report your "rape" to her. Then, you tell a reporter from a national newsmagazine about it.

These actions require a level of shamelessness that goes far beyond what a non-sociopath is capable of. They also require the confidence that you can always fool other people with your lies, a confidence only sociopaths seem to have. -- source

Who perpetrates hoaxes? Sociopaths!

To perpetrate a hoax, you have to:

  • be a convincing liar
  • feel no shame for your actions
  • take no responsibility
  • be bold
  • take big risks
  • feel no empathy for those you hurt
  • believe you are more important than others
  • believe you deserve more than others
  • enjoy fooling others (duping delight)
  • accuse others of your own malfeasance (like bearing false witness)

One of the biggest hoaxes I know of is the Holocaust Lie. The people behind that lie exhibit all of those characteristics, which just happen to be the common traits of a sociopath. Coincidence? No way.

Quote:
A sociopath always wants more: more fame, more admiration, and more sympathy.

It was this last desire which motivated this entire charade. Jackie has Munchausen's Syndrome, whose "sufferers" (sociopaths all) invent various maladies in order to quench their bottomless need for sympathy and affection. But instead of inventing an illness in order to gain attention and sympathy from doctors and nurses and friends, Jackie invented a rape in order to gain attention and sympathy from her friends and the UVA dean and even real rape victims in the campus support group she joined.

She even tried to get sympathy from Rolling Stone writer Sabrina Rubin Erdely, and by extension, her readership. It was that national exposure which ultimately proved her undoing. -- source

The desire for attention and sympathy? Isn't that what the Jews get from their Holocaust Lie?

Damn right!

Not to mention more fame, more admiration, more sympathy, more money, more power, and more control.

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Quote:
Obama is a rip-off artist. When the establishment flunky, Marco Rubio calls Donald Trump a con man, he is serving the same interest that Obama has been obeying. Society has no comprehensive mechanism in place to keep public officials accountable. Only a blind person would conclude that Barry Soetoro has not made his own side deals, which bring in lucrative rewards and riches. -- source

Who would guess that the sociopath calling himself Barack Obama would be a rip-off artist?

Actually, if you know what a sociopath is, you don't have to guess. Perpetrating hoaxes, conning people, and ripping them off comes with the psychology of sociopaths. It's what they do.

Quote:
Time to get serious, President Barack Obama told voters Thursday, denouncing Republican Donald Trump as a ‘‘con artist’’ and a threat to democracy... -- source

Well, yes, Trump is a con-artist, but then so is accuser Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and all the U.S. presidents since John F. Kennedy. They are all sociopaths, and thus they are all con-artists.

So how do we fix this glaring problem of sociopaths becoming our leaders? Let me emphasize the critical sentence in the first quote:

Quote:
Society has no comprehensive mechanism in place to keep public officials accountable. -- source

The first step should be to screen all potential and existing public officials for sociopathy! Identify the con-artists and disqualify them from public office! This one step alone would revolutionize government. Responsible, honest, empathetic people in public office would hold themselves accountable! No other "comprehensive mechanism" would be needed.

Post Re: Sociopaths -- who knew?
Gordon wrote:
Brain researcher Jim Fallon offers a fascinating example of a psychopathic anomaly. Fallon was studying the brain scans of psychopaths, and one day he decided to look at his own. To his dismay, he discovered that he had the brain signature of a psychopath! Oddly enough, though, his behavior didn’t manifest this condition.

I disagree. In observing Jim Fallon ( 1 2 3 4 5 6 ) on talk shows interacting with the host and the audience, I recognized his sociopathy. I believe sociopathy lies on a continuum, and while Jim Fallon's sociopathic behaviors were not especially damaging to others (at least not yet observed), they were clearly in play. He was being subtly deceptive, he was subtly manipulating, he was looking to subtly augment his authority (power and control). He was subtle, but sociopaths usually are, and that too can be on a continuum.

Once again, this Gordon fellow is too quick to believe everything he is told by authoritative parrots. When your starting information is flawed, so too will be your conclusions.

Quote:
Watching the man (Jim Fallon) speak in interviews and conferences, instead of coming across as a psychopathic John Stamos character, he resembles the uncle who always tells great stories at family dinners. And maybe that’s disturbing in its own right; he is a psychopath, after all. -- source

That's right. Sociopaths are charming, fun, disarming, and highly skilled con-artists. You will like them. But that doesn't mean they are not sociopaths. You usually can't recognize a sociopath from appearances, because remember, they are great chameleons. They are highly skilled at mimicking normal people. They are very good at fooling people, including people like Gordon, who hasn't even realized yet how his perception of WW2 is a complete fabrication of sociopaths, sociopaths that he claims to understand.
