Post The story.
Prime Minister Ghandi has a son called Sanjay Ghandi. He was being groomed to succeed and be the next prime minister.

A monster he was. Spoilt, cruel, nasty. Many many stories spread throughout India.

He was brutally murdering the indingeous people of Nagaland (for oil) as with many other tribes as well.

He had confiscated that red plane (pictured) from a rich American business man.

A 1942 Pitts acrobatic plane. Beautiful. The plane had been assembled about two weeks before this photo was taken. Coincidentally we had just finished the 1942 Red Indian motorcycle two weeks before this photo was taken as well.

I was lazing in the pool at the Ashok Hotel in New Delhi where we were staying and I spotted the plane over New Delhi doing death defying acts and traced the plane to the local airport.

By the time we arrived at the airport the plane had landed. We spoke with the pilot, who was also the instructor to Sanjay Gandi. Also the Sadarji Sikhk was none other than the Minister of Civil Aviation who just happened to have and 1942 Indian Chief Motorcycle as well.

It just so happened that we were carrying some Indian motorcycle parts that we had just purchased. Some 1942 indian brake cabels. It just so happened that he needed some brake cabels for his Indian bike. There were rare indeed. A deal was struck. Some brake cabels for some photographs. Of course, ordinarily this would not have been possible. He told us to come the next afternoon at a certain time.

We were on our way to the airport, (a very very small local airport) when we passed Indira Gandi's house (Sanjay's mother) and this group of Naga Sadhu (pictured) were protesting outside her house. We stopped and took some photos. Then ventured along to our next rendezvous, the photo shoot at the airport.

We arrived and good to his word there was the plane, beautiful and red. We took a lot of photos and climbed inside the plane, outside the plane, under the plane. Then in the distance we saw a few official ambassadors cars heading our way. They stopped just near us and out got Sanjay himself. Jumped into the plane with another instructor and headed off into the blue skies.

THIS WAS THE ONLY AND LAST PHOTO TAKEN OF THE PLANE THAT KILLED SANJAY GANDHI.

Whoa! What a story!

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, that was a lot of luxury (the red bi-plane), I thought, for India. Makes sense now.

On the way back home, we went past the group of Sadhu's who waved us down. They said to us that Sanjay would die and shook our hands and thanked us.

Within an hour, he crashed the plane at the end of that street.

Now considering who the last people were to have touched the plane............we decided to leave India that evening and flew out to Nederlands.

Surprisingly Indria announced that there would be NO INVESTIGATION INTO THE CRASH OF HER SON.

We returned to India and that was the end of that.

THIS WAS THE ONLY AND LAST PHOTO TAKEN OF THE PLANE THAT KILLED SANJAY GANDHI.

Very cool story
