Quote:
The essence of the argument against nuclear is that nuclear power kills. Its origin of intent was destruction through the creation of plutonium to make nuclear weapons. Nuclear power has killed and sickened large numbers of native Americans, but no one really knows (how many) because the research necessary to estimate these health effects has never really been done. The nuclear catastrophe in Fukushima will kill many thousands in Japan. Nuclear power has already killed over one million people in Russia, the Ukraine and Europe after Chernobyl. Nuclear power killed people in Pennsylvania after Three Mile Island. Nuclear power is killing people all over the world and will continue to do so for the rest of time because of persistent leaking of massive amounts of radioactive waste into food chains. -- source

Not quite for the rest of time. Once people go extinct, there will be no more "killing people all over the world". Our extinction is perhaps on the very horizon we aim for.

Radiation is the ideal stealth killer because it has built-in plausible deniability. No one can definitively prove the primary cause of the cancer that kills you. This has got to be very alluring to sociopaths bent on depopulating the world. Very alluring.

Out of sight, out of mind. But not out of body.

Accidents NOT included.

An arrest similar to Durnford’s occurred in Yellowknife in the Northern Territories soon after the Fukushima disaster targeted a local radio host who had discussed the radiation levels in northern Canada. He was soon thereafter taken away in a raid by uniformed men and silenced. His name was never identified to the public and he has not been heard from since. Yellowknife is the center of operations for the Pentagon-supported Canadian Arctic command. -- source

If a tree falls in the middle of a vast forest, does it make a sound?

The truth about Fukushima is being deliberately silenced by inattention. It's a strategy of "out of sight, out of mind". As long as the public hears the repetitive "All is well" mantra, they will never suspect the invisible harm that is permeating their environment.

The ruling sociopaths who are responsible for unleashing that harm know that.

The before and after photos of coastal waters here suggest that Fukushima radiation is severely impacting life on this planet, exactly as one would expect with a background in the effects of nuclear radiation as taught 40 years ago. Of course, nowadays we are taught nuclear radiation is nothing to worry about. I wonder why...

Oh yeah, another indication that they are playing us is the persecution they unleash on anyone that brings this information to the public, like Dana Durnford. Those people must be silenced, doncha know. In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act, and will be punished accordingly by the Sociopaths-That-Rule.

How absurd is the insanity that the ruling sociopaths subject us to? Insanely absurd. They think climate change is the leading problem humanity faces, and even worse, they are arrogant enough to claim they can control it! Meanwhile, man-made radioactive poisons spill out of Fukushima uncontrollably, slowly killing off or mutating most life in the Pacific to begin with, and probably killing off or mutating most life on the entire planet over the next few hundred years. But is anyone concerned? Are there any international summits on how to control the radiation spewing from Fukushima? Hell no! But Heaven forbid that the average global temperature might rise a degree or two over the next few centuries. By then, the few examples of humanity left may be radioactively mutated into lobster-like creatures that prefer warmer temperatures! Did they ever think of that? Idiots!

One of the identifying features of sociopaths is their hypocrisy. Given the magnitude of the hypocrisy involved in trying to control global temperature drift while ignoring the global impact of Fukushima, I would say that the very top of the human hierarchical pyramid is composed almost exclusively of ruling sociopaths, and that they comprise about 0.0001% of the total human population. Only sociopaths would be deficient enough psychologically to pursue such a morally insane and self-destructive policy. 0.0001% of the human population is about 7000 individuals. They are the hair at the end of the tail that wags the whole dog.

Bikini is silent today, mutated and contaminated. Palm trees grow in a strange grid formation. Nothing moves. There are no birds. The headstones in the old cemetery are alive with radiation. My shoes registered "unsafe" on a Geiger counter. -- source

We are well on the way to turning the whole planet into something similar -- a mostly dead place where little can survive. Already the entire Northern Pacific is dying ( 1 2 3 4 ). What is the matter with us?

“The unleashed power of the atom has changed everything save our modes of thinking, and thus we drift toward unparalleled catastrophe.”

We have a choice. End nuclear weapons or they’ll end us. -- source

Guess what we chose?

When it comes to dangerous radiation, your government will tell you it takes all necessary steps to protect the public from unhealthy exposure.

In reality, the government does just the opposite.

Here's a real-life example that occurred in 1959, nearly 57 years ago! Note well the actions taken by the government. Also note that the government we have today is far more criminal in nature than it was 57 years ago.

Quote:
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL), located near Los Angeles, spans 2,850 acres and was used by private corporations to test rocket engines for NASA. It’s contaminated with both toxic chemicals and radiation. Cleaning the place up is incredibly difficult due to the sheer level of pollution, and the situation is exacerbated by the poor condition of many of the complex’s structures. Worst off is Area Four, which contained 10 nuclear reactors. The largest reactor, referred to as the Sodium Reactor Experiment, partially melted down on July 13, 1959.

According to a former employee, radiation levels in the building where the meltdown occurred went “clear off the scale.” To prevent an explosion that could have been comparable to Chernobyl, radioactive gas had to be vented into the sky. Afterward, workers’ attempts to repair the damaged reactor only succeeded in generating more gas. For the next several weeks, a seemingly endless supply of radioactive gas was vented from the building, generally at night. People living nearby in places like Simi Valley, Chatsworth, and Canoga Park were “bombarded” with radiation.

Everyone involved in the incident was sworn to secrecy. Six weeks later, the Atomic Energy Commission reported that a minor incident had occurred and that no radiation was released. The truth wasn’t revealed until 1979.
Other reactor accidents, also involving the release of radioactive gas, occurred in Area Four during the 1960s.

Radiation from the laboratory is believed to be linked to increased incidences of cancer in nearby communities. One local resident recalls every house on her street having at least one cancer case. In 2007, the CDC found a 60 percent higher rate of some cancers among those living within 3 kilometers (2 mi) of SSFL. -- source

Now do you understand why Tokyo was not evacuated after the Fukushima accident? And why Tokyo will never be evacuated, even though the three nuclear melt-downs at Fukushima are still on-going today, and have been releasing massive amounts of radiation into the air and water 24/7 for the past five years?

And do you realize that we stupid humans have no idea to this day how to stop this constantly growing contamination of our one and only biosphere due just to the Fukushima melt-downs alone?

And shouldn't you be concerned that our sociopathic leaders are continuing to expand our use of nuclear power, despite the clear evidence that this is self-destructive to all life as we know it and will never be safe?

Do you understand now why sociopaths were initially called the "morally insane"?

There is a legacy of death and illness that spans generations downwind from Hanford, and the source of those diseases percolates away in the tanks and waste sites that sit along the Columbia River, spreading deeper into the surrounding ecosystem. The radiation from Fukushima may slowly seep across the vast Pacific, while at Hanford we have the threat of a radiological explosion or terrorist act that could release volumes more radiation than was released by Fukushima and deposited in Japan any day of any week, and spread radiation across the West Coast and mountain west. -- [urlhttp://www.counterpunch.org/2016/04/29/hanford-not-fukushima-is-the-big-radiological-threat-to-the-west-coast/=http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/04/29/hanford-not-fukushima-is-the-big-radiological-threat-to-the-west-coast/]source[/url]

Fukushima is the worst nuclear disaster the world has ever known. What if there is worse just waiting in the wings? What if it is not even waiting?

When sociopaths rule, insane policies result. The nuclear weapons/energy policy is an example. No sane and empathetic person would have ever embarked on such a policy. But sociopaths would, and they have. If we don't start managing sociopaths properly, I think it is a good bet that humanity will not last another 500 years.

Synchronicity strikes again. I just read this:

Quote:
The Global Challenges Foundation estimates a 9.5 percent chance of human extinction within the next hundred years. -- source

In 500 years, with compounding of the percentages, we have a better than even chance of being extinct. So I think I was right about it being a good bet. I suspect the real dangers of nuclear disasters are not fully appreciated and that the chances of human extinction are also underestimated due to the normality bias. So things are worse than they would appear from our current perspective.
