Post How the World Works
The human race appears insane. Examples include constant war, environmental destruction, gross inequalities, starvation in the midst of abundance, financial slavery, inadequate health care, poisoning of air/food/water, physical slavery, genocide, and much more. How is this possible?

The apparent insanity of the human condition can be understood by the psychology of the participants.

The principal players -- all population percentages are rough approximations.

  • Followers (80%) - The psychology of followers is one of following authority over their own conscience (Milgram experiment), or going along with the herd in opposition to their own senses (Asch experiment), or other directed or submissive behaviors.

  • Sociopaths (1%) - Masters of deception and manipulation over the Followers. They also enforce organization on the Sociopathic Minions through bribery and/or blackmail.

  • Sociopathic Minions (10%) - Willing to concede to bribery and/or blackmail to actively support the Sociopaths' agenda. Many members of Congress, Wall Street, big business, government bureaucracy, and judicial employees fall into this group.

  • Independents (9%) - The rebels, critical thinkers, self-actualizers, dreamers, resistors, contrarians of Sociopath-directed society. They tend to be an ineffectual factor in the overall game because they fail to organize due to their independent nature. Getting Independents to organize is like herding cats.

The Game

The game is self-organizing and self-determining as a function of the participants and their respective psychologies. The Sociopaths set the direction and agenda according to their own selfish group interests, which are typically focused on maximizing their overall power and control. The Minions carry out the orders of the Sociopaths that are designed to deceive and manipulate the Followers. The Minions are typically well rewarded for their successes and severely punished if they do not cooperate. The Followers go where they are herded without fail. The end result is that the "morally insane" (the Sociopaths) determine the direction of humanity, which tends to be self-destructive to the point of insanity.

Why psychology is key

Sociopaths realize quite young that they are different from the norm. In their search for an understanding of why they are "abnormal", they typically become well versed in human psychology. They study psychology actively, keep the knowledge within their ranks as much as possible (for example, classified CIA projects on mind control), and use it often clandestinely for their own purposes of manipulation and control. Examples of psychological techniques used regularly by Sociopaths include Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and covert conversational hypnosis, which are techniques generally unknown to the general public.

Thats a good landscape Chic. The game is deception of oneself. I suspect social engineers know copious amounts of information on our species, with behavior programming down to a very refined science.

I suspect "this" to be the biggest operation on any scale and in line with ancient mystery schools. We are indeed in a Matrix.

Precisely. They know the psychologies of the players, and they use those psychologies to orchestrate the game.

That's a very big "perhaps"! I no longer believe this is going to happen. The Sociopaths and their Minions will not be turned, and the Followers will not be turned either as a result. Only the Independents can be turned, and unless they can wrest control from the well-established Sociopaths and their Minions, the Followers will continue to follow the Sociopaths. The result is no change of the status quo.

The article that I quoted above does a great job explaining how the Followers are "locked in" to the system by the Minions who are themselves "locked in" to the system as well. The Sociopaths hold all the keys to the locks, which are primarily money (the carrot) and punishment (the stick). After convincingly showing how well the system regulates itself into strong compliance, it is ironic that the authors should end with the hope for a solution in the form of a critical mass awakening.

Its going to have to be common sense that holds weight. If it moves into complexity the sociopaths will hijack the details and you will get lost.

No, each individual holds the most important key, which is priori amongst anything. Once you can reflect the nature of sociopathy, people will be able to see it and act contrary.

I did not get your irony point, can you elaborate?

Yes, that's one of the ways the sociopaths override the common sense of the Followers.

I would argue that the Followers are not inclined "to reason why" or recognize the reality of the situation. Only the Independents are inclined to see sociopathy and oppose it. The Sociopaths, with the help of their Minions, direct the Followers, which is why I say the Sociopaths are holding the keys.

Yes, the article paints a very convincing and accurate portrait of the robustness of the sociopathic control system, and then, at the end of the article, suggests that "perhaps" the people will wake up. That robust system is designed to prevent them from waking up! That's why the Sociopaths control the media, the money, the energy infrastructure, the government, and the education of the young. Nobody, other than the Independents, is going to wake up.

Wow! Powerful and accurate synopsis, in my opinion. Chris Hedges has nailed it. Our only hope is indeed through rebellion. The solution for managing the ruling sociopaths will never be allowed by those ruling sociopaths, so rebellion is inevitable if non-sociopaths intend to avoid enslavement.

It's an ugly truth, but it is reality.
