If you pay attention watching this video you'll see someone waving a "Don't Feed The Trolls" banner, funny how that brings UncleZook to mind!

The government has way too much power, making it way too easy to crush dissidents like ants. Dissidents are a necessary requirement for fair and proper government, and when they are stomped on by government, rather than listened to, we have tyranny.

Quite a quandary when morality and free enterprise are intertwined. Why would anyone invest millions or any energy into content that can be given away for free? I dont see reason working it out, but only force. Civil war in all areas? Reminds me of this futurist video on Copyright. viewtopic.php?p=10974#p10974

What quandary? The problem is free enterprise trumps morality. That is the whole problem, and it is why money ruins everything. Morality has to be the guiding principle for the proper development of humanity, but with amoral sociopaths in control, money has become the guiding principle. Money serves those that control its creation, and that would be the amoral sociopaths.

US used 'Christian heavy metal' to torture Iraqi militants

Torture doesn't necessarily have to deal with physical pain. The US military have used Christian heavy metal music by the band Demon Hunter after rockers Metallica asked they stop using their recordings on prisoners.
The US Navy SEAL involved in the killing of Osama bin Laden told Esquire magazine that prior to using Demon Hunter recordings, the commandoes used Metallica music to pull information out of Iraqi prisoners.
“When we first started the war in Iraq we were using Metallica music to soften people up before we interrogated them,” the spokesperson said.

However after the band, who is totally opposed to violence, asked the US military to stop using their music at interrogations, the commanders chose Demon Hunter.

“Demon Hunter said, ‘We’re all about promoting what you do.’ They sent us CDs and patches. I wore my Demon Hunter patch on every mission – I wore it when I blasted Bin Laden,” the Navy SEAL added.
“Part of me is proud they chose Metallica, and then part of me is bummed about it. We’ve got nothing to do with this and we’re trying to be apolitical as possible – I think politics and music, at least for us, don’t mix," Metallica front man James Hetfield said in 2008 commenting on the news that US military used the band’s music for the interrogation of Guantanamo prisoners

No, there are more than two options. I would simply ask for your evidence in an effort to determine if your allegations have any merit.

There are an infinite number of options in the narrative of the prevaricator ... but when one looks at the significant or practical options, two sounds about right in our case.

You still haven't answered my question ... is it okay to state or imply that your mother is a whore? When do acts of censuring (not censoring) ... kick in?

Salient fact: Andy already derailed the thread with his Oedipal innuendo.

It's more complicated than that. The first person that could be suspected of derailing the thread would have to be you in the second post of this thread, where you shifted the subject from encrypting the Internet to the sex trade. But I recognize that there is a connection between the sex trade and sharing sex-related files on Megaupload and the idea of encrypting the Internet, though it is a weak connection in context of a thread entitled "Russian Times". So in reality, the derailment of a thread is in the eye of the beholder, which is why I don't support trying to dictate the direction a thread should follow.

It's a very strong connection in the narrative of a video pitting Kim Dotcom and his arguments against internet censorship against the reality of Kim Dotcom and his vested interests.

No one is asking you to dictate anything. Just be balanced in your admonitions. But I understand that you are TUGPOOT, so I'm not expecting much. It's enough for me that the record show that you are Andy's rump rubber and apologist.

Quote:
Maybe you Chico, or Mags, don't respect your mothers as I do ... and I'm sure Andy doesn't respect motherhood or his own mother or the mother of his kid

I agree with you that by bringing your living arrangements into any argument, Andy is essentially attacking the messenger rather than the message, which I personally frown upon. But you do the same thing in bulk (i.e. targeting the messenger), and you even justify it as necessary and unavoidable. So if you're going to dish it out, shouldn't you be willing to receive it graciously?

It's amusing that even in your feather-tickle admonition of Andy, it turns quickly into another admonition against me. Keep rubbing Andy's ass ... he ain't complaining.

Par for the course, Andy doesn't offer anything about the video ... just a useless remark to give the appearance that he is interested in Mags thread. Classic gatekeeping.

Gatekeeping, like thread derailment, is in the eye of the beholder. To my eye, UncleZook is guilty of gatekeeping far in excess of Andywight, and I have stated as much in the "Busted" thread. However, what I have learned from that exercise is that we are all molded into gatekeepers, to varying degrees, by the very sociopathic system that shapes us, and we are usually not aware of it.

TUGPOOT, the unchallenged great prevaricator of our times!

Porn peddlers like Kim Dotcom have nothing constructive to offer on the debate about internet censorship ...

I disagree. In times of intense government surveillance for the purposes of domination and control, exactly what Kim Dotcom is experiencing now as he is unjustly persecuted, what Kim Dotcom has to say is particularly germane to the discussion. Your comparison to Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt is not very relevant, in my opinion.

Your opinion is not worth much, Chico, for the facts suggest otherwise, namely, that social engineering is a stirring spoon to finely integrate issues of speech with issues of commerce, e.g. to create dependency between independent issues. Somewhere along the way, the engineers got a hold of the right-of-speech train and switched the tracks to a right-of-commerce destination.

Kim Dotcom is experiencing what the system is allowing him to experience. Just like Assange is experiencing what the system is allowing him to experience. Both are psychological operations (indirect in Dotcom's case) ... and both abet the agenda of the system's lever pullers.

It takes something other than a TUGPOOT to appreciate the intricate patterns of the jigsaw puzzle.

Get rid of the commerce of sex ... make it free ... and you can have sex without the exploitation.

That could certainly be another interesting thread, but you are calling for the abolition of the world's oldest profession. Many have tried, and all have failed. It may be impossible to successfully outlaw human nature.

Modern times call for modern memes and methods. Prostitution was relegated to backstreet domains in the old days. Now it is ubiquitous and in many forms and avenues, including file-sharing services. Making the commerce of sex a pariah activity in the public domain, will have social benefits in at least one way, e.g. by taking the activity back into the backstreet Pandoran boxstreet domains (from whence they came).

For a self-declared nonbinary pensive like yourself, you sure do view things in black and white, Chico.

ps3: In the end, this thread has very little to do with internet censorship ...

Yes, but that's our own fault, and in my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that. If any one of us wants to refocus the discussion onto Internet privacy, we are certainly free to do so. That is, in a nutshell, why I started this forum -- freedom.

Spare me the polemics. Fact is, there is little freedom in any state of minds where one mind consistently degenerates all molecular discussion into the subatomic state.

ps4: The discussion of internet censorship belongs to those who don't have a vested interest, at least in the higher discourses.

No, it belongs to all of us, because it is an issue of freedom, which affects all of us.

The informed thinkers have something tangible to offer to the issues of freedom, something that can preserve the freedoms against engineered transgressions by the ruling elites. The instinctive animals, by contrast, have what they are given by the Athenian elites, and not much more ... and are mostly Trojan horses sent into the limits of Troy to do the bidding of Athens.

You speak like you're primarily an instinctive animal, Chico. So be it.

Pax Cognitas

ps: Btw, it's not a crime to be an informed thinker. Try it sometimes. You may yet respect the umbilical bond between the message and the messenger.

You can state or imply all manner of falsehoods at any time, which you often do in your posts. That's part of freedom of speech. Censure kicks in whenever free speech practitioners deem it necessary. Hopefully, they use good judgement when evaluating that necessity, but as we know, good judgement is not such a common commodity.

President Rafael Correa declares victory in Ecuador’s elections

Ecuadoreans have reelected President Rafael Correa in Sunday's presidential vote, according to the first official exit poll. Correa has declared his victory in the country’s election.
According to state figures Correa is leading with 56.6 percent of the vote against 24 percent for his closest challenger former banker Guillermo Lasso, with some 30.5 percent of the vote counted.
Earlier private exit polls had given Correa a clear lead – Opinion Publica gave him 61% against 21% for his opponent. Cedatos gave Correa 59% against 20% for Lasso.
An Ecuadorean state TV poll gave Correa 61 percent ahead of 21 percent for his nearest rival. Following such a strong performance in the exit poll, Correa has declared victory.
None of the other six candidates had more than 6 percent. They include former President Lucio Gutierrez, former Cabinet minister Alberto Acosta, banana tycoon Alvaro Noboa, evangelical minister Nelson Zavala, former city official Norman Wray and attorney Mauricio Rodas are also in the race.
The Organization of American States and the Union of South American Nations have been monitoring the transparency in Ecuador’s elections.
The only president in the past two decades to complete a full term in office, Correa, in his third term is expected to continue to strengthen the oil-producing economy and reinforce the position of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) as a regional force countering US influence in the region.
A country of 14.6 million people had 28 percent living in poverty in 2011, down from 37 percent in 2006, the year before Mr. Correa took office, according to World Bank data.

The story is just the opposite in the United States, where poverty under the Obama administration continues to increase, continuing the same trend the Bush administration practiced. If we didn't know better (thanks to the incessant propaganda), you'd think our leadership was deliberately trying to run this country into the ground so that they can provoke unrest and have an excuse to mow us down.
