Everyone who attended Occupy Wall Street with a cell phone had their identity logged, says security expert!

While we in the civil liberties community disagree strongly with private investigator Steven Rambam's admonition to "Get Over It," after listening to him describe electronic surveillance powers it's hard to disagree with the first part of the title of his talk: "Privacy Is Dead." (Part two of the talk is below.)
"Where you work, what your salary is, your criminal history, all the lawsuits you've been involved in, real property...everything you've ever purchased, everywhere you've ever been...Your information is worth money. Your privacy today isn't being invaded by big brother -- it's being invaded by big marketer," he told an audience of hackers and privacy activists at HOPE 9 in New York during the summer of 2012.
Lots of the talk is about big corporations and their insatiable hunger for data about all of us, but Ramdam also addresses government spying:
Quote:
One of the biggest changes is the ability to track your physical location. I'm sorry I came in at the end of the previous talk. I heard them talk about surveying cell phones with a drone, in a wide area -- this is something that is done routinely now. [Note: Is that what these microwave antennas were used for at Occupy Wall Street in mid September?] I can tell you that everybody that attended an Occupy Wall Street protest, and didn't turn their cell phone off, or put it -- and sometimes even if they did -- the identity of that cell phone has been logged, and everybody who was at that demonstration, whether they were arrested, not arrested, whether their photos were ID'd, whether an informant pointed them out, it's known they were there anyway. This is routine.
In this video obtained by the Guardian, Raytheon's 'principal investigator' Brian Urch explains how the Rapid Information Overlay Technology (Riot) software uses photographs on social networks. These images sometimes contain latitude and longitude details – automatically embedded by smartphones within so-called 'exif header data'. Riot pulls out this information, analysing not only the photographs posted by individuals, but also the location where these images were taken.

Milwaukee is one of an increasing number of cities around the country — just under 70 to date, including some in the New York area — that are using a gunshot detection system called ShotSpotter http://www.shotspotter.com to pinpoint the location of gunfire seconds after it occurs.
Quote:
“In my view legally,” he said, “what is said and picked up by the ShotSpotter recording does not have the expectation of privacy because it’s said out in public, and so I think that will turn out to be admissible evidence.”

Re: Big Brother is watching
In the "land of the free", it will cost you $75 to buy the oil filter adapter that allows you to attach your low-tech suppressor to the gun barrel, and in addition, you are required to pay a $200 tax to the government for the privilege of using a silencer. That requirement and tax is an infringement on the "right to bear arms" which is guaranteed by the supreme law of the land, the United States Constitution. Yet the Supreme Court Justices have consistently failed to "support and defend" the Constitution by striking down such laws as unconstitutional.
So what do you do when the Supreme Court, the Congress, and the Executive branch collude to bypass the Constitution?

You, your family and your future family paid for Big Brother to police you.

Re: Big Brother is watching
The instruments of war, in the hands of the ruling sociopaths, become the instruments of the most heinous crimes against humanity. We are witnessing that even now in Iraq and Afghanistan, which are not wars in defense of the our freedoms (as the propaganda leads us to believe), but offensive acts of aggression designed to empower the ruling sociopaths so that they may better enslave us.

This is forced transhumanism. The very nature of how information gathers information, is intrusive and abusive. It's a digitized parasitic amoeba the size of Godzilla, invisible and hard to track.
Now that's irony, for ya.

Re: Big Brother is watching
This is an instructive thread. I just read through the whole thing to get a taste of its sustenance. It has some concentrated nutrition in a small package.
I was looking for a place to post this ditty on the wisdom (or prescience) of George Orwell.
Quote:
5) “In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
Even without commentary, the reader is probably picturing Edward Snowden or Chelsea Manning. The revolutions of the future will not be fought with bullets and explosives, but with little bits of data traveling around the world destroying the false narratives with which governments shackle their citizens. -- source
The emphasis is mine.
Little bits of data traveling around the world destroying the false narratives with which organized sociopaths shackle their victims.
Didn't someone once say: "The pen is mightier than the sword."
Sociopaths use deception first, then fear, then the sword. They do not use the truth, which is what gives the pen its power.
May YouTube be damned for its imposition of advertising on non-consenting minds. I guarantee that I will never buy or praise any product whose advertising was force-fed to me. Of late it has been Dasani flavor drops. As far as I am concerned, this product is the spawn of the devil. That's what I take away from their unwanted advertising. If we all do the same, we could banish imposed advertising from the face of the Earth.
