How many times have you heard it?
“We can't do anything about it.”
“There's nothing I can do.”
When we go to the movies, we cheer on the hero that
can do something about it. We love that part. But then we leave the theater knowing that it was all just make-believe.
Welcome to
learned helplessness.
Criminals know that if you feel helpless, you act helpless. And helpless victims are their cup of tea. The ruling sociopaths, who are indeed criminals, do everything in their power to make sure we feel helpless. That way, they own us. Whether it's with big armies, big government, or big money, they make sure we feel small, insignificant, alone, and helpless.
In our learned helplessness, we have little psychological choice but to look for outside intervention to save us. “Our leaders will take care of us.” “It's all part of God's plan, and God loves us.” “The benevolent extraterrestrials will save us.” “Ascension to higher spiritual realms is coming soon.”
All of that is BS fantasy. We're either going to do it ourselves, or we're going to die not trying.
We are not alone. We are not insignificant. We are not helpless.
“
I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!” – Howard Beale in
NetworkAnd your life has purpose, too. And that purpose is not compatible with helplessness.
