"An idea does not gain truth as it gains followers." -- Amanda Bloom

We have plenty of examples of this even amongst ourselves on this little forum ( UncleZook). It is one of the reasons that I argue against certainty.

Truth By Consensus – How To Control Our Thinking is perhaps the mainstay of what we refer to as mind control. Remember the second Iraq War (the one we are still stuck in, our 21st century Vietnam)? The ruling sociopaths deceived and manipulated the western world into believing that Saddam had "weapons of mass destruction" that threatened our very existence. "Be afraid, be very afraid" was the hidden message. Fear is the great consensus multiplier. They thus manufactured consensus for invading, occupying, and looting a sovereign country. Our young men are still dying for our foolishness, and so are many Iraqis. Meanwhile, those responsible for the deception and manipulation (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, and many others) live quiet lives of luxury with nary a worry of being brought to justice.

The status quo is crimes against humanity. And by our silence and apathy, we give our consent.

Not only by our silence and our apathy, but also by denying reality, believing fantasies, and embracing comfort.

Quote:
Playing on your dreams and hopes, beliefs, as opposed to true spiritual knowledge, effectively co-opt your subconscious aspirations and ability to take fully conscious and effective action. After all, you “believe” the answer is coming, everything will be OK all by itself, or an outside power will save you. -- source

When enough people do this, we take comfort in the consensus of "like-minded" individuals. And we rest, satisfied in the security of our certainty.

Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the people are conned every day.

We don't consent to be conned every day, but that doesn't stop the deceivers from doing it. And if we are unaware of the constant deception, then consent becomes a moot point. At least that's the way the controlling sociopaths see it.
