Gun control advocates love to hate District of Columbia v. Heller, the 2008 case in which the Supreme Court recognized that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to arms. They may be protesting too much. Federal courts in the decade since have found many restrictions on the right to own and use weapons perfectly congruent with that decision. Heller merely says the government can't enforce laws that prevent (most) Americans from possessing commonly used weapons in their homes for self-defense.

Courts have found that Heller does not preclude laws that prohibit anyone younger than 21 from buying guns in retail stores; laws that bar people who committed a single nonviolent felony from ever owning a gun; laws that severely restrict the ability to carry a gun outside the home; laws that ban commonly owned magazines of a certain capacity; or laws that require handguns to incorporate untested, expensive, and unreliable "microstamping" technology. The Supreme Court so far has avoided taking up any of those questions. -- source

The Supreme Court avoids taking up those questions because they are obvious infringements on the right to bear arms. The hypocrisy of the Supreme Court would be clearly revealed if they had to consider upholding the Second Amendment, which is their sworn duty. So they avoid it and let lower courts violate the Constitution. The corruption of the legal system couldn't be much more evident. That Americans have become so complacent is a clear refutation of Franklin's comment:

Quote:
If there is a lesson in all of this it is that our Constitution is neither a self-actuating nor a self-correcting document. It requires the constant attention and devotion of all citizens. There is a story, often told, that upon exiting the Constitutional Convention Benjamin Franklin was approached by a group of citizens asking what sort of government the delegates had created. His answer was: "A republic, if you can keep it." The brevity of that response should not cause us to under-value its essential meaning: democratic republics are not merely founded upon the consent of the people, they are also absolutely dependent upon the active and informed involvement of the people for their continued good health. -- source

We failed to keep it. Sociopaths control it now.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is a tough guy. How do we know? 'Cause he talks real tough, that's how.

He also doesn't like guns very much. Doing his best Clint Eastwood impersonation, Biden told gun manufacturers that he is "coming for them."

To do what, Biden doesn't say. But whatever can a senile doddering old fool actually do to make those gun makers quake in their boots?

Maybe he'll throw his teeth at them. -- source

Gotta get them Americans disarmed!

Biden is such a sociopath. When he's not perving after young girls and their mothers, he's parroting whatever his controllers tell him to parrot. And gun removal is at the top of the list.

I saw a headline in today's newspaper that I picked up off the ground during my walk — "Gun violence leaves two injured". You never see "Knife violence leaves two injured" or "Fist violence leaves two injured". No, only guns are violent. Only guns are out of control. Never mind the people and their sociopathic values that are at the root of the violence. Just take the guns away, then the public will have no comparable defense to the guns the police and military will confront us with.
