So what would be 'maximising the common good' in this situation?

I believe the members who have been trying to get the personal info removed are working to maximise the common good. Whether or not it has been a simple statement of wishing personal information to be removed, or more directly, by starting polls and threads to discuss how to go about it and try and find some consensus.

Working to resolve the sock puppet issue would also maximise the common good, imo.

Members that contstantly disrupt threads and use character assassination tactics to bully others from what they are trying to resolve, are not working towards the common good...imo.

I think intention is everything and I'm wondering, Chico, if you intend for this experiment to fail?

Hell, we could all shoot each other.

Nah, that's a little too much. Although I could get my hands on a slingshot and a bag of marbles???

The bitch slapping over and over is losing it's impact.

Peace..

So, the truth comes out, and it ain't pretty.

When you strip away the freedom-robbing control structures, the highly enlightened (read self-congratulating) members of the forum reveal themselves to be a crazed lynch mob of ego-driven maniacs all fired up to tear each other apart (nice one, NB). And the biggest ego of all has to be Chicodoodoo for opening Pandora's Box and giving all these egos free reign to run amok.

Shameful.

OK, it is what it is. Now we know what we're truly working with. How can we make something good out of it? How can a world of GWs and Dsimons and Frank Campers and Celines and Chicodoodoos and Zooks and Andys get along and contribute to the common good?

You've really challenged me this time.

I'm thinking, but I'm drawing a blank. Any ideas?

And don't tell me that if we just remove the private information, everything will be fine.

Buttfucking? I dunno, I'm guessing here.
