Post "United People", what's that?
What does a united people look like? We are so programmed into an "us versus them" mentality, based on a "divide and conquer" strategy successfully employed by our sociopath rulers, that we don't have many examples of unity to draw from. Examples of what divides us are plentiful, but examples of what unites us are rare. This is the exact opposite of how it should be, I would think.

So this thread is dedicated to examples of what unites us. It may be a short list, but we have to start somewhere.

The Beatles sang to us that "All you need is love". I'm not sure we got the message, but we got the music. Music might be the closest we come to being united in large numbers. Many people will shed their apathy and take action to make the music; they will actually make the effort to cooperate instead of compete. And when they do, it's a beautiful thing with beautiful results.

On TV, the famous credit card advertisement used to ask, "What's in your wallet?"

The better question is, "What's in your network?"

Because the answer is "Everything."

"When everything is connected to everything else, for better or for worse, everything matters." -- Bruce Mau

Network versus hierarchy

How humanity visualizes its structure is far-reaching and of critical importance. Hierarchy is the old way, the way of dependency, rank, domination, and inequality. This is the preferred structure of sociopaths, and that tiny minority has profited mightily from hierarchy at the great expense of most of humanity. Networking is the better way, the way of connectedness, inter-dependency, independent choice, and greater equality. This is the preferred structure of empathetic people, the vast majority, who understand changing places or putting themselves in the shoes of others.

The way we are organized is critical. With a network, we can all be connected. With a hierarchy, we can all be lorded over. Which do we want? Which is best for humanity? For most of history, we have been operating in the hierarchy, the preferred structure of sociopaths, and sociopaths have dominated humanity. They have set the morally insane policy that steers us even today, one of death and destruction, where the pursuit of money and power make the decisions that are clearly not in the best interests of the majority. The Internet has given us a glimpse at what a paradigm shift could bring us, where we network instead of lording over each other, where money does not make the decisions, but instead ordinary people do, via group discussion and consensus.

Do we continue to unite behind leaders, or do we unite into a leaderless collective of equal players who determine their direction by consensus? The sociopaths continue to influence us to do the former. Of course they would, for that is in their best interest. That allows them to maintain their power and control over us, the majority of humanity, the 99%. And unless we act to change this absurd situation, we will continue to reap what they sow -- oppression, tyranny, slavery, destruction, scarcity, suffering, and death.

What's in your network?

What is the difference between a united people and a mind-controlled people? In both cases, the people are one in their thinking, so is there a difference? Would the difference be in how their perspectives converged?

I would like to suggest that the Germans from 1933 to 1941 were a united people. That, of course, made them very dangerous to the ruling sociopaths.

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, thanks to unrelenting provocations from the FDR administration. I would like to suggest that Americans after the attack were a mind-controlled people. That, of course, made them very useful to the ruling sociopaths.

In the history that the victors of World War II wrote, they claim that the opposite is true. The Germans were the mind-controlled people, and the Americans were the united people.

Who is right?

United we stand, divided we fall. Divide and conquer. Divide and rule.

We have been divided. We have fallen. We have been conquered. We are indeed ruled. We are not free. We are enslaved.

A tiny minority of sociopaths have succeeded in imposing their psychological world view on the majority of humanity. They did it by deliberately dividing us against each other.

Note that there is one division responsible for all this. That is the division between sociopaths and non-sociopaths. It is also the division between people with empathy and those without. This is a division that cannot be overcome, as it occurs naturally. It must be actively managed. But it never has been actively managed, at least not within recorded history. Because it has never been managed, humanity has been stuck in a rut, unable to evolve and reach its potential.

Actually, to be more precise, the division between sociopaths and non-sociopaths has indeed been managed -- by the sociopaths. And that is the problem. The minority manages the majority. What we need is for the majority to manage the highly dangerous minority.

Because if the highly dangerous minority is not managed by the majority, we have, in the case of sociopaths, "rule by criminals". And if you listen to this CIA whistle-blower, that is what we have right now.

We are truth seekers. We seek in different ways and we find different answers, but we are united by a burning desire for truth. By the question, “What the hell is going on here, anyway?”

After eight years(!) of running this forum, I have come to realize that I misnamed it. "United Person" would have been a much better choice. There was never a time in those eight years when the people of this forum were united. On the rare occasions when there was a greater unity than usual, it was due to people falling for the deceptions and manipulations of the sociopaths and con-artists among us (of which there were more than I ever could have imagined).

Perhaps I should have called the forum "United Truth Seekers". People who seek the truth above all else do have common ground for uniting, especially in a world of deception and manipulation run by sociopaths. Caitlin Johnstone notes the common theme among her readers is the burning desire to know the truth. But even there, it is clear from the comments that they are not very united. Perhaps the "United" part of the name is too unrealistic. Maybe I should have chosen "Divided People".

And yet, small-time artist and lowly soldier Adolf Hitler accomplished the creation of a United People in Germany after 15 years of determined effort and selfless struggle, from 1920 to 1935, under the most difficult of circumstances. I am in total awe of his accomplishment, the equivalent of successfully herding cats. And he didn't herd them by force, but by truth, honesty, and reason! The cats just realized over time that he was right, and that things would be much better if they became part of the solution rather than being part of the problem. Yes, Hitler and his German people were ultimately destroyed when the rest of the world was mostly united behind the deceptions and manipulations of conniving con-artists known as sociopaths. When truth can be trampled and replaced by fear, people can unite. They cooperate to end the fear. "It's coming right for us! Kill it!"
