The recent release of disturbing footage from the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center – featuring a restrained teenager who gets electroshocked 31 times – brought the controversy to a whole other level. While the Center claimed that the use of electroshock was a form of “therapy” to change behavior, the footage shows an all-out torture session under the watchful eyes and laughs of Center employees.

Very chilling.

I assumed ECT was outlawed and I was gonna post that wouldn't happen in the UK.

Alas, http://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/mentalhealthin ... s/ect.aspx

Royal College of Psychiatrists still uses it - note the pamplets outdated language - referring to seizures as fits - which is offensive. Plus their statistic - 15% of those suffering from severe depression will commit suicide, sounds like they pulled that one out of their arse justify this treatment. Very telling that it is performed by psychiatrists - you know the ones who think they can drug everyone better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of ... ed_Kingdom - in UK they are supposed to give it with a muscle relaxant and anaesthetic.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2007/sep/15/politics - review of Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine - re "the war on terror"; "de-patterning", false flag events, easy profit and mind control. A play on words in relation to ECT for mind control in the microcosm, applying the metaphor to a sinister macrocosm - shock the world (with false flag events) into accepting a new program - e.g. war on terror and subsequent loss of rights that people so willingly roll over and give in their shocked state. Brilliantly written book, although I only read about half as the content disturbed me so much.

ECT is making a comeback here in the states. One of the psychiatrist here in my local town just prescribed it to someone for a 2 week duration. The lady attempted suicide after the treatment. Talk therapy and resources to provide this have incrementally diminished. The new model is brief therapy with med mgmt. The whole system is bogged down by paperwork and kowtowers.

Psychiatry is pretty much quackery, as is ECT. Both do way more damage than good. It's insane.

Who would have thought psychiatry would be insane?

1975. One flew over the cuckoo's nest....

Its not all quakery but there are some very serious ethics violations that are complex.....and anything complex is anathema when it comes to public knowledge discourse, let me try to explain a few things:

Most people are not aware that up until the late 1950's psychology was almost entirely preoccupied with operant conditioning. Skinner became the darling man of the hour because it was found that you could use behavoir modifications to cure almost everything. Mental illness was cured by subjecting a person to E.C.T along with behavoir mod, the idea being to shock and traumatize the system into a tabulea Rosa (blank emotional state) and to then get the nervous system to respond differently to the environment, along with creating a stimulating environment.

This was used as recently as in the 1980's I know because I worked as a psych tech and we had many voluntary patients for E.C.T....and sometimes it does help, just a fact. People were also wrapped in wet blankets to calm them down (scary shit I tried it once to see how it feel), etc.

here is the problem. Behavoir modification can be traumatic. It does not need our consent anymore than the myth that only a compliant can be hypnotised. The truth is in fact that with advanced technology like some of the procedures ex illuminati Svali talks about, are part of a sophisticated behavoir modification program.

Meanwhile the public are told such Bullshit as "well positive reinforcement works better anyway." when this is patently false. Good behavoir modification is accomplished when as much stimulus from the environment (operant conditioning) reinforces the stimulus as possible, including psychological, positive and negative.

now picture this situation: you have jon Q public taught that the last time negative operant conditioning was used, things like E.C.T was in antiquity....despite the fact that one flew over the cuckoos next was made in what? 76?

Further told that positive reinforcement is all you need, give johnny a gum drop when he ties his shoe..... and further under the false assumption that his will will protect him/her from operant forces.... when psychologists and psychiatrists know the truth. You want a Maniac Depressive to behave in public? zap him and negatively reinforce him when he is manicy, put him in a room with a camera, shut him down with drugs and don't let him out til he behaves socially (this is standard proceure in may places)....never mind if the person actually feels better! Just make him socially acceptable and give him the right drugs to shut him down.

Want Johnny to tie is shoes like the other kids? give him riddlin when he gets out of control and reinforce the view that he is acting deviant by acting normal for a child....never mind how Johnny feels inside, he will begin to act socially acceptable in no time!

Operant conditioning is very powerful and can when used consentually with proper moral guidelines be a useful tool, like hypnosis, but when you create peer pressure and the notion that the behavoir is the only thing empirical you go beyond "freedom and dignity" which was the name of Skinner's (the great behavorist's) book..."beyond freedom and dignity."

Chomsky showed the horrendous nature of Skinner's behavoir modification....also "a clockwork orange" is a great contemporary critique of Operant conditioning. Very powerful stuff, abused and trauma inducing.....god help us.

Not only the fronts you mentioned, but what about legal threatening, economic, medical. You just need one Felony in the US and your swimming against the current. Call the IRS. Isnt the IRS being merged with Homeland Security? Psychiatric diagnosis? That will follow you like herpes or MRSA. I say they have the best of both worlds in Operant conditioning. Pleasure and Pain!.

He sure did! and scarred them for life. Its hard to imagine how arrogant Skinner was before Chomsky David vs Goliathed his ass. It was a perfect storm M: In the United States the last real epoche before Skinner and after Freud was "the mystical man" the Tibetan, asthetic who nefariously could control a person's mind and have them do his bidding...Just as we sexualize African Americans commercially to objectify them....making it seem like every black male is a rapist who wants pretty white girls and has a gigantic phallus....We orientalized this nefarious conjerer...he was yellow, sexually exploitive, with long fingern nails.....many traits of the Kubuki Ninja (pornographer who would sneak in the bedroom at night) and the mystery men of china came together to make this hypmotizer. As a result of the image and of Carl Gustav Jung's work people took an interest in the philosophical traditions of China and Shamanism. A great example is the ne3west version of "the shadow" with Alex Baldwin, great movie! captures people's attitude at the time. Watch how the villian operates and how the Shadow fights him, superman is the man with the super will, the ability to cloud men's minds.

Now this vision of man was utterly destroyed by Skinner! By the time Manchurian candidate convinces people that the only people who want to understand the inner workings of the mind are evil orientals (notice the Korean War) who, instead of being evil conjurers are evil communists. And here comes Skinner but where did he come from?

Well it turns out that the dark ages in psych in this country were not universal. By the time of the 40's and before the Russians, with Pavlov and his meat powder had a very sophisticated idea about how to change people....the idea was not to tamper with the mind but merely to use the environment to create a schedule (training) of reinforcement which would end with the individual unbeknowst to him/her (often enough) behaving exactly as trained. Common experiments were things like...getting a teacher to write on one side of the board : whenever the teacher wrote on the left side the class would yell and be rowdy, when the teacher wrote on the right everyone was silent as a nonny mouse!

Skinner merely took this large body of work and ran with it. Suddenly government and all then institutions that dealt with human resources had a responsability to create the right conditions ammorally, so people were efficient, up to task, and easily controlled. Skinner famously argued that operant conditioning was in fact "beyond freedom and dignity" i.e. you could modify any man with the right conditioning no matter how moral. You could make Charles Manson a pussy cat and Martin Luther King a mass murderer. To Skinner government became Aristotle's prime mover the maker cause that could create and engineer the perfect society, morality was simply another human fraility...

Mag the thing is? to make this Skinnerism more palatable? they started Bullshit like the idea that pleasant reinforcement was better than negative. Meanwhile at the mental institutions they seemed to have fogotten this ahhem fact. Skinner was a terrible time Mags...terrible. In my opinion there is nothing that brings more tears to my eyes more than the notion, the vision that people acting in perfect accord while inside they are unhappy and repressed. History tells us that this is largely the legacy of Skinner, an otherwise brilliant man who hurt his family, and hurt society...Read Svali to get an idea about what a knowledge of skinnerism and no moral rectitude can accomplish.

Still just digesting all this info, Dsimon.

But initial thought based on this perception

Makes you wonder what people are prepared to do when they are desperate and pushed into a corner - society creating socipathic behaviour, as such blacklists of sorts arise (this can be seen from corporate psychopaths in terms of references, credit ratings, poor educational achievement etc); it backs people into a corner, so you get more crime e.g. fraud, robbery, violence etc because these reductionist labels give people without resources (connections, money, property, education) very few options.

Indeed. They are all nets designed to reign us in. We all have at least one of them to contend with. As a Psych tech interns with no psych experience would often make a diagnosis of chronic schizophrenia....which could be a self fufilling prophecy. And credit reports? they have no statistical correlation to what they are supposed to predict. Where is it proven that a bad credit report indicated anything?

Yeah you make a great point
