Here's my quick two cents.
UP is looking to unite people behind common needs that we all have (as in the UP Declaration). We're trying to become a community of people serving ourselves by serving others.
Humans that will embrace the philosophy of serving ourselves by serving others.
The community. Currently, no money is invested in the forum. The forum software (phpBB) is open source. The server space is donated. The domain name was free. The staff (just me currently) is volunteer.
I would like to keep money out of this as much as possible. Money ruins everything. Make this a labor of love. Love is a tide that raises all boats.
The Golden Rule -- "Do not do to others what you would not have them do to you."
The Physician's Creed -- "Do no harm."
As per the statement on the UP website, there are only two levels of hierarchy -- individuals and groups of individuals. Members should sort out issues, and one way to do that is to form specialized groups (moderators?) to handle certain issues. The group of all individuals (the entire community) has the ultimate power over all smaller groups.
That's one possibility (the community group decides). Or a smaller group can be delegated this responsibility.
Perhaps.
