Anonymous Hits CIA Website
CAN THIS BE TRUE?- Common Dreams staff
The hacktivist group Anonymous claims to have taken the CIA's website down this afternoon.
RT reported this afternoon:
At approximately 3.10 p.m. Eastern time one of twitter accounts related to the hackers' group announced "cia.gov DOWN. #UMAD?#Anonymous"
Agence France-Presse reports:
"CIA Tango down," a member of Anonymous said on @YourAnonNews, a Twitter feed used by the group. "Tango down" is an expression used by the US Special Forces when they have eliminated an enemy. [...]
A CIA spokesman had no immediate comment.
At this time, the CIA website is still unresponsive.http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/02/10-5HERE ARE SOME COMMENTS ABOUT THIS -
Gov websites are not really set up to handle a lot of connections so it's just a matter of having hacked enough loser' s boxes and start flooding the website with requests.
Remember last year when they tried to bring down Amazon (or some such). users didn't even notice a slow down.
It makes for a good political statement but not a major achievement in hacking. I hear there's actually groups out there that have lists of hacked boxes you can use to flood servers and for a fee you can rent those boxes to do your evil deed. what comes around goes around.[color=#008040]
