I am glad you posted this video Andy. It's a bittersweet reminder of days gone by.
Since my family was very young I have taught where "famous brands" are made, by whom, and at what cost. We watched this video together as well as many others like "The High Cost of Low Prices" and such. I thought I had done my god given job as a parent and that the seeds I planted early would eventually grow into trees and bear fruit.
I was wrong. There are too many enemy forces, and not enough strength or stamina left in me. There has been too much peer pressure and societal manipulation of late and I've fought a tremendous uphill battle in my own home for the past couple of years. That battle is lost.
The war is not over, but I have done the sane thing and retreated. There is not much more I can do to bring people around to my way of seeing the world at this time. People in my family shop at Walmart but when they do they make sure to keep it from me or hide the evidence. Sometimes they don't do a very good job of it. "Kids these days". (I feel like Rodney Dangerfield.)
Nevertheless, I do thank you for bringing this video here.
Pilger touches upon the events which brought the military dictator Suharto to power in Indonesia, and who backed him. Did you ever see "A Year of Living Dangerously"?
Sincerely,
Mouse

Re: John Pilger Articles
Need more proof that money ruins everything (for the majority)?
I wouldn't think so.
I love the IMF economist that sees living in debt as natural as breathing. What a brainwashed idiot.

War and shopping - an extremism that never speaks its name
Looking for a bookshop that was no longer there, I walked instead into a labyrinth designed as a trap. Leaving became an allusion, rather like Alice once she had stepped through the Looking Glass. Walls of glass curved into concentric circles as one "store" merged into another: Armani Exchange with Dinki Di Pies. Exits led to gauntlets of more "offers" and "exciting options". Seeking a guide, I bought a lousy pair of sunglasses: anything to get out. It was a vision of hell. It was a Westfield mega mall.
This happened in Sydney - where the Westfield empire began - in a "mall" not half as mega as the one that opened in Stratford, east London on 13 September. "Everything" is here, reported the architectural critic Jonathan Glancey: from Apple to Primark, McDonalds's to KFC and Krispy Kreme. There is a cinema with 17 screens and "luxurious VIP seats", and a mega "luxury" bowling alley. Tracey Emin and Mary Portas lead the Westfield "cultural team". The biggest casino in the land will overlook a "24-hour lifestyle street" called The Arcade. This will be the only way into the 2012 Olympic Games for 10m people attending the athletics. The simple, grotesque message of "buy me, buy me" will be London's welcome to the world. [Read more...]

Banana Boy is a fan of Pilger, the celebrated mainstream media minion who supports Assange, Wikileaks, Anonymous; denies 9/11/2001 conspiracy; and stooges for the power pyramid by going into the unwashed masses and throwing fake arrows back at the capstone. Pilger garners trust with the unwashed masses - henceforth understood as an eclectic mix of unwitting brains, witting brawns, reality cowards, and spongebob dunces - so that he may steer the masses to the trough for a proper washing.
When minds, muscles, mice and morons mount up for a ride ... the apocalypse gallops along grudgingly, every ten minutes cursing at Satan's logistics officer for shorting the charge.

Obama and gay marriage are in the news, but as we all know, the news is just propaganda designed to distract us from what's really important. John Pilger says Bradley Manning is more important than gay marriage, which is true, but isn't nuclear energy going to be our real downfall?

Great article Chico, the more of Pilgers work I read the more I like him.
