Everything seems to be pointing towards a major conflict in the middle-east and the stage is set for a crack-down (martial-law) here in the states.

The sabre-rattlers are the bad guys here, the self-assured bullies that are provoking the wars. As always, it is the United States, and as always, the conflict will be spun by the media into democracy, God, and apple pie.

Why do Americans fall for it every time?

Problem?

Fear and the need to belong to a tribe ... why Americans sign on for apple pie baked by Uncle Sam's short order cook.



Solution?

Courage and individuality.

Good post, Zook! Made me laugh with the "Peace Comedy" explanation. Yes, the whole thing feels like an enormous farce, an absurd con-game that we are somehow convinced to take seriously as if it were real. The consequences of being fooled are certainly real -- the killing, the suffering, the pain, the grief, and the despair. Humanity is so messed up, and we have the sociopaths to thank for it.

We need to get mad.

CNN is beating the war drums today. Saying that Syria "has enormous stockpiles of chemical weapons" and that for some unknown reason Syria is moving the stockpiles around the country.

Then CNN shows a map of Syria with 15-20 locations where the stockpiles are located-even though CNN alleges that Syria is moving the stockpiles around for some implied sinister reason-somehow CNN can pinpoint on a map for all the world to see the locations of said weapons.

Good catch! I am encouraged that we humans are getting better at recognizing the propaganda used to manipulate us. That propaganda is quite transparent to me now, to the point that I get mad whenever I catch just a glimpse of TV coverage (something I very much avoid). Yes, just a glimpse is enough to provoke anger in me, because the propaganda is so "in-your-face".
